Sessions aim to enlist Dementia Friends in Winchester

Press Release: 07/04/2015

Two free sessions aimed at raising awareness of dementia and encouraging people to be ‘Dementia Friends’ are to be held in Winchester.

The Dementia Friends sessions are at the Discovery Centre in Jewry Street, Winchester, on Monday 20 April at 9.30am-10.30am and 11am to 12noon.

The sessions are being organised by Dementia Friendly Winchester, a local action group comprising organisations, businesses and individuals each committed to making Winchester more dementia-friendly.

Dementia Friends learn about what it is like to live with dementia and will become part of a national initiative helping people living with dementia to feel included in their communities.
Anyone of any age can become a Dementia Friend and, from helping someone to find the right bus to spreading the word about dementia on social media, every action counts.

The hour-long sessions are run by Dementia Friends Champions - volunteers who have taken the Dementia Friends Champions' training. Participants will learn more about dementia and how they can help to create dementia-friendly communities.

Spaces at the sessions are limited and booking is essential. To book your place, please contact Nicola Lawrence on 01962 848083 or email
