From the 13 September to 5 October City Space in Winchester Discovery Centre will be hosting the 2014 Winchester Art Club Annual Exhibition.

Each year over 300 club members, ranging from complete beginners to experienced artists, submit their work for judging. The best are selected for inclusion in the exhibition and in keeping with the Clubs aim of promoting participation in fine arts the works selected range from drawings and sketches to painting and sculpture.

Winchester Art Club was founded in 1919 and developed from the Winchester Fine Arts Society which had existed since 1888. The Club continues to provide encouragement and inspiration particularly to those who paint as a hobby.

Many regular visitors to the gallery look forward to this exhibition which offers an annual splash of colour at the start of autumn and always proves a popular show. Careful selection by the judges ensures an overall high standard of work most of which will be for sale at modest and affordable prices.

On Thursday 11 September at 7.30 Winchester Art Club will present 'Bernini: Visions of Ecstasy' an evening talk by popular art historian and author Douglas Skeggs.

Tickets are £8.00 from Winchester Discovery Centre box office on 01962 873 603 or can be booked online at A limited number of tickets will be available at the door on the night.
