Switch Hampshire saves Winchester residents time and money
Press Release: 01/05/2014
The latest round of the energy-switching scheme, Switch Hampshire, has saved Winchester residents who signed up an average of more than £200 each.
In the Winchester City Council area 410 residents registered with the scheme between December 2013 and February 2014. Some 132 residents or 32% switched making an average saving of £203.
More than 3,000 residents in Hampshire signed up over the same period to see if Switch Hampshire could save them time and money by searching and switching to a better deal on their energy bills.
After an auction to see which companies could provide residents with the best offer, Ovo Energy, British Gas, Green Star Energy and Scottish Power were all selected. Thanks to the hassle-free scheme, 1,055 residents decided to switch to the winning deals, giving an overall saving of £216,000 across Hampshire.
Switch Hampshire is a partnership between local authorities in Hampshire including Winchester City Council. The scheme is now closed for registrations.
