City Council receives gold award
Press Release: 13/05/2014
Winchester City Council has received the gold award – the highest level on offer – as part of its ‘Investor in People’ accreditation in April.
The Council has been recognised for good practice in seeking to improve services continuously, for dedication to developing staff and for increased consultation with staff contributing to the success of the Council’s objectives.
The Investor in People scheme covers everything from business planning and leadership to management effectiveness, learning and development and performance measurement. The City Council was already Investor in People-accredited, but there is a requirement for regular re-assessment to ensure continuous improvement.
The assessment took place in March 2014 and involved interviews with 60 staff from across the Council randomly selected by the independent assessor.
Chief Executive Simon Eden said:
It is staff who merited this award and I am grateful to them and proud of their achievement. The positive response they give to the support and development opportunities on offer impressed the assessor and in turn helps the Council to succeed in delivering its objectives.
We will not rest on our laurels. We will continue to respond to feedback and suggestions from staff and seek to improve our support to them and the service we provide to the public still further.
