Portfolio Holder for Communities & Transport, Cllr Mike Southgate, said:

This is an ideal opportunity for not-for-profit organisations to benefit from a community grant. In my new role as Portfolio Holder I look forward to meeting local groups to find out about the great work they are all doing in our district and how we can help them further.

Melissa Fletcher, Funding & Support Officer, added:

Our project grants are awarded for all manner of projects: arts, sports, new-builds or increasing capacity in existing structures. As long as your organisation is not for profit and benefits the residents of Winchester and district you are entitled to apply.

Also open for application to not-for-profit organisations is the Town Forum Small Grants which closes on 27 June 2014. This small grant is specifically for organisations serving the six wards of Winchester without parish councils and it is open to partnership funding with surrounding parishes – for example, Badger Farm.

It is designed for one-off pieces of expenditure on projects, equipment and other items which will help an organisation to do more, to reach more people, to provide better services or to try something different. Organisations applying will need to demonstrate community benefit.
