Membership changes at Winchester City Council

Cllrs Derek Green and Jamie Scott have today resigned from the Conservative Group and joined the Liberal Democrat Group.

Cllrs Green and Scott both represent the St Luke ward in Winchester along with Cllr Rose Prowse who is a Liberal Democrat.

This means that the membership of the Council has changed from:

29 Conservatives, 25 Liberal Democrats, 2 Labour and 1 Independent
27 Conservatives, 27 Liberal Democrats, 2 Labour and 1 Independent

This is a change from a Conservative administration with an overall majority of 1 to a minority Conservative administration with no overall control.

The Liberal Democrats have requested a review of committee memberships to reflect the new political balance. This will take place at the Council meeting on Thursday 20 February.
