10 days Winchester has confirmed the city venues taking part in ‘Creative Collisions’, the theme of this year’s contemporary arts event organised by local artists.

Taking place from 25 October to 3 November 2013 and the most ambitious project to date since 10 days’ inception in 2009, the Courtyard Winchester Guildhall, Winchester Cathedral, Winchester Discovery Centre, Art Café, Theatre Royal Winchester, Winchester Science Centre, St Cross Hospital, The Link Gallery, and Hyde Gate together with businesses across the city have teamed up to become a Creative Hub for 10 days.

With over 150 artists from all areas of practice taking part, visitors will be able to experience new art works, including installations, exhibitions and interactive events right across the city. In addition, an online platform will enable everyone to join in with digital projects.

Trish Bould, Creative Director, explained:

Visitors to 10 days events will be amazed by the bursting creativity of our city and the sheer imagination and scale of the art and events on view. Some special events will be ticketed, including children’s performances, but most events are free to visit. There will be some truly inspiring and unmissable creative activity that will make a lasting impression.

A leading venue is Winchester Cathedral where there will be events, tours, artworks, workshops and performances relating to the sacred space taking place all over the building. From the crypt to the Triforium gallery, Bible Room and nave there will be an ambitious and challenging programme of work with something for all ages to enjoy.

Cllr Robert Humby, Winchester City Council’s Deputy Leader, added:

What started with a few entrepreneurial local artists making use of a vacant laundry building has now become one of the city’s most celebrated biennial events. This year’s creative programme looks inspiring and, above all, accessible to all the residents of the Winchester District.

Winchester district has a vibrant creative and cultural community and the City Council is pleased to support this imaginative showcase for local talent. I particularly welcome the fact that so many individuals, organisations and businesses have got involved ensuring 10 days will be a diverse and exciting event for residents and visitors alike in 2013.
