The Visit Winchester and the Heart of Hampshire team has just launched a new 2014 calendar using iconic images from across the district. The calendar helpfully lists major events across the year and suggests ‘things to do’ each month from enjoying the panoramic sunset views in October to following the Austen trail in February.

2014 will see an events programme called ‘Winchester’s Story’ which will run from June to December to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the Great War, and details of the educational, commemorative and ceremonial events will also be listed in the new calendar.

Designers at Winchester City Council have given the original photographs including Winchester Cathedral, Bishop’s Waltham Palace, Peninsular Barracks and images from Winchester’s summer season of festivals, a ‘vintage make-over’ which is characteristic of the Visit Winchester and the Heart of Hampshire brand.

Cllr Rob Humby, Winchester Council’s Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said;

Every year the vibrant district of Winchester delights residents and visitors alike with a never-ending stream of high quality events. We are always looking for ways to help support event organisers and tourism businesses and this calendar will offer another valuable tool for promotion as well as showcase the variety of things to do and places to visit across Winchester and the surrounding countryside.”

The calendar is available just in time for Christmas from Winchester Tourist Information Centre, retailing at just £4.50 for a desk version and £6.50 for an A4 wall calendar. So if you’re looking for a stocking-filler, or an easy present to send abroad, get your copy while stocks last. A percentage of the proceeds from the sale of the calendar will go towards the Mayor’s Charities.
