LEGO® Mania Trail at the City Museum

Press Release: 25/03/2013

You can take part in the county-wide LEGO® Mania Trail at the City Museum, Winchester, this Spring. See an amazing LEGO® model and have a go at LEGO® activities.

The LEGO® Mania Trail runs from Thursday 28 March to Sunday 9 June. On display will be a life-sized LEGO® Roman banquet made from over 75,000 LEGO® elements, built by LEGO®-certified professional Duncan Titmarsh.

There will be lots of activities to try. Visitors can join in the hunt to find Roman Emperor LEGO® mini-figures hidden around the galleries and they can be creative at LEGO® play tables. There is also a chance to enter a LEGO® model competition and to build and customise your own LEGO mini-figure.

In addition Winchester Museums are offering two great LEGO® workshops at the Winchester Discovery Centre, a Masterclass and a free mosaic-making workshop where you can help make a life-sized LEGO® model of the Sparsholt Roman mosaic.

Commenting on the event, Robin Iles, Education Officer at Winchester City Council Museums, said

The LEGO® Mania Trail is taking place across Hampshire, with seven museums taking part, each with their own amazing LEGO® models. Visitors can pick up their Trail leaflet in the City Museum, and collect a stamp at each venue to enter a prize draw to win some LEGO®.

This is a great example of Winchester City Council Museums working closely in partnership with other museums in Hampshire. This has enabled funding to be secured from the Arts Council for an event which will open up the City Museum’s wonderful displays for a whole new audience, and attract visitors from across the county to Winchester.

More information about these events, and other LEGO® Mania Trail events across Hampshire, can be found on the Lego Mania website
