Winchester Theatre Trust seeks new member of the board

Are you passionate about theatre and the performing arts? Would you like to be involved in supporting a leading theatre venue?
Winchester Theatre Trust (formerly Winchester Arts Trust Limited), which is the landlord charity responsible for the fabric and maintenance of the Theatre Royal Winchester building, is now seeking a new member for the board.
The venue is a Grade ll Listed building. It was first built in 1850 as The Market Hotel and became a cine variety Theatre in 1914. With the threat of demolition in 1974, the building was preserved by Winchester City Council. Having overcome various obstacles since, the Theatre Royal now provides a dynamic programme of drama, music, dance and comedy.
Duties for the new member will include attendance at Board meetings - approximately three per year held in the evening in central Winchester. The successful candidate will represent the Trust at other ad hoc meetings with the operating company (Live Winchester Theatre Limited), local authorities, other Trustees, auditors etc. In addition there will be a number of administrative tasks.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in developments at the Theatre Royal Winchester, which works to provide the highest quality of performing arts for both the city and beyond. The role is a voluntary position.
