There’s ‘bin’ improvements to refuse and recycling calendars

Press Release: 03/12/2013

Winchester City Council has announced that this year there will be a number of options in the way residents are notified about changes to their bin collection days over Bank Holidays. The methods provide a combination of traditional printed material as well as online options for those of a more technical disposition.

Every resident will shortly receive a brief summary showing the collection day changes for 2013/14 but residents can also request a full annual waste collection calendar if they wish in two ways.

Anyone visiting www.working-together.org.uk can enter their postcode and download the calendar for their area. Alternatively, if they ring the local rate number 0300 300 0013 a calendar will be sent out in the post.

Speaking about the new system Councillor Jan Warwick, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods & Environment said,

We are trialling this system for next year to gauge reaction as we think it will be simpler advice for many residents whilst also offering the convenience of having 24 hour access to a calendar on-line. However, we will make sure that anyone preferring the traditional printed calendar will receive one in the post.

I would also remind everyone that the garden waste service will be suspended over the Christmas period; but please don’t forget to put your real Christmas tree out with your garden waste sack during January.
