Approximately 2,500 properties risk losing their vote in Police and Crime Commissioner elections

Press Release: 08/10/2012

Residents in the Winchester district are being urged to make sure they don’t lose the chance to have their say in the Police and Crime Commissioner elections, taking place on Thursday 15 November.

Over the last few months, households in the Winchester district will have received an annual voter registration form, which should be returned to Winchester City Council by Thursday 11 October.

Those who have either not received the form, or have lost the form should call 01962 848 125.

Winchester City Council’s electoral registration officer, Stephen Whetnall, said: “You have to be on the electoral register if you want to have your say in the first Police and Crime Commissioner elections.

“We estimate that 2,500 households have not returned their forms. Some people wrongly assume that paying council tax means that you are registered to vote. I am urging all those eligible to vote in the Winchester City Council area to return their form as soon as possible.
