Make sure you’re registered!
Press Release: 25/06/2012
Over the next few weeks, Winchester City Council will be sending you your electoral registration form so that we can make sure the new electoral register is compiled by 16 October 2012.
This is because there are elections for a Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner in November this year.
In order to guarantee that you are on the electoral register, please register as soon as your form is delivered.
You must return your form by law. If you don’t, you could face a £1000 fine. Please don’t assume that you will be automatically registered if you were on the register last year, and if you don’t return your form for two years running your names will be taken off the register – this means that you won’t be able to vote and you may be refused credit or loans.
If there are no changes to your information, you can register online once you receive your canvass form at www.registerbyinternet.com/winchester or by telephone on 0800 197 4417. Please make sure that you have the security code, printed at the top of the form, ready as you will need this to register.
If you need any help completing the form or you have any other queries, please contact the Electoral Services Office using the helpline number 01962 848 125.
