Winchester’s state of the art Park & Ride buses are off to play their part in London 2012 this month. From Monday 6 August, for a period of approximately seven weeks, our fleet of distinctive two-tone green buses will be in London to serve as transport for the competitors at the London 2012 Paralympic games.

Winchester Park & Ride will still be running as usual throughout August and September with replacement Stagecoach buses. The replacement buses will be in Stagecoach’s livery but with additional Park & Ride stickers to show users which service they will be running. Notices have been put up at all the Park & Ride car parks and bus stops to inform users of the temporary changes to the service.

The City’s Park & Ride buses have been chosen as they are designed to be easily adaptable to accommodate the most number of wheelchairs per bus.

Cllr Victoria Weston, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Transport, said,

We are delighted to be able to help the London 2012 Paralympic Games in this way. We have excellent buses on our Park & Ride network and we hope that users of the service will be proud to see their buses used in and around the Olympic Park, helping to make the games a success.
