Have your say: Take part in the MY WINCHESTER survey

Press Release: 24/04/2012

Vision for Winchester

What do you think is great about living in the Winchester District?

What do you want to see happening where you live in the coming years?

These are some of the questions Winchester City Council will be asking residents over the coming weeks to inform the development of its new Cultural Strategy.

The strategy will set out the vision and recommendations for strengthening the cultural life of the Winchester District. With its outstanding heritage, beautiful countryside and a lively, year-round programme of festivals, special events and exhibitions, it’s an area which already has a lot to celebrate.

Winchester City Council is keen to identify opportunities for new ways of working and great ideas for the future so it can make best use of limited public finance.

Eloise Appleby, Assistant Director (Economic Prosperity) at the Council, said:

This is an important opportunity for people who live and work in Winchester District to have a say about culture in the coming decade – from internationally known events like the Hat Fair and historic sites like Winchester Cathedral, to clubs and activities right on your doorstep. The strategy will be firmly based on a real understanding of what local people feel they want. The Council will be able to set priorities for development and investment that will ensure that residents can take part in the activities they love, now and in the future.”

Winchester City Council wants to know what YOU think.
