Winter Threads – City Space exhibition | 19 November – 8 January | free entry
Full of bright vibrant colours and entrancing textures this exhibition by local textile group Force 8 is guaranteed to dispel those winter blues. Formed in 2000 by eight enthusiastic textile artists, they have since grown to sixteen dedicated makers who follow their original ideals of promoting textile art through workshops, master classes and exhibitions such as Winter Threads.
Beryl Osborne of Force 8 said “Each individual artist aims to keep and expand their own creative identity which enhances the strength and uniqueness which we endeavour to bring to every Force 8 exhibition.”
Members of the group will be on hand most days throughout the exhibition to demonstrate their skills and chat about their work so why not pop in and take a closer look. Watch out for the ‘Artist in residence’ sign at the entrance to City Space which will indicate a member of the group is in the gallery. Most of the work on show will be for sale.
Cllr. Patricia Stallard, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Heritage and Sport for Winchester City Council said “This exhibition offers visitors to City Space the chance to appreciate the intricate and imaginative work of this respected local group of textile artists who add their distinctive contribution to Winchester’s extensive and diverse creative community”.
