Winchester Tourist Information Centre has been shortlisted to win the National Tourist Information Centre of the Year Award at the EnjoyEngland Awards for Excellence 2011.

The centre won the gold award at the South East regional finals in October in recognition of the excellent service the team offers tourists and residents alike.

Having won the regional award the Tourist Information Centre went on to compete for the national award along with eight other centres across the country.  Winchester is now down to the final four and the winners will be announced at the EnjoyEngland Awards to be held in the Great Hall in Birmingham on 15 April 2011.

Sarah Harfield, Tourist Information Centre Team Leader, said, “I am delighted the team has made it to the final four for the national awards, they have worked extremely hard and this recognition is well deserved.”

Cllr Dominic Hiscock, Winchester City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Prosperity, said, “We are thrilled that the excellent service the tourist information centre team provide has been recognised and wish them all the best for the finals on 15 April. The team is always looking for innovative ways to improve the service they give to visitors and they have implemented numerous further improvements in the space of just four months since the regional awards!”
