Get set for Winchester Business Week

Winchester is all set to celebrate its many qualities as a location for business, with the first ever Winchester Business Week. Taking place between 1st and 5th November, the week is packed with events, training opportunities and initiatives for the business community.

Events include a Blueprint for Breakfast consultation session on the Tuesday, giving Winchester city business people a chance to influence the future shape of the city as part of the wider Local Development Framework. Winchester Action on Climate Change are inviting businesses to explore premises where they can see money-saving low carbon practices in action, on a special day called Open Green Workplace. There’s also a major event for the workforce of tomorrow, in the form of the Solent Skills Festival which is a joint event with Solent Education Business Partnership and partners held at Southampton City Cruise Terminal.

Cllr Dominic Hiscock, Winchester City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Prosperity, is looking forward to an exciting week: “There are a whole host of activities and initiatives for businesses and entrepreneurs to get involved in. I am particularly looking forward to the Blueprint for Breakfast event, and hearing from the business community more about their vision for Winchester’s future.”

Any group in the Winchester District can run their own Blueprint exercise. Very different from previous consultation initiatives, this new idea from Winchester City Council encourages communities to think beyond their own personal and immediate needs, and consider the long term future of a range of residents. More information about how to run your own event is available at www.community-blueprint.co.uk

Other events during Winchester Business Week include networking events, a Hampshire Chamber of Commerce lunch and LEADER funding workshops.
