Bunny Hop your way to an Easter treat!

A free Winchester Bunny Hop is set to send egg-hunting families around the city this Easter.

The activity, which is sponsored by The Sweet Treat Company on City Road, will give families the chance to use a special map to find egg-shaped clue cards to help solve a puzzle.

The clue cards will be hidden in 13 children-friendly shops in the city. Each of the cards has a letter printed on it and, once found, they can be taken to the City Museum to work out the simple mystery phrase. Successful riddle-solvers will be rewarded with an Easter surprise donated by The Sweet Treat Company.

Winchester City Council’s Tourism Marketing and Development Officer, Rachel Gander, said: “We are delighted to be working with Winchester BID, The Sweet Treat Company and other local businesses to offer something new for families to enjoy this Easter, in addition to the usual exciting holiday activities, great shops and eateries. The free, easy to use trail will encourage visitors and residents to visit the city’s shops and hopefully pick up more than just an egg-shaped clue!’

Amy McCartan, Marketing and Communications, Winchester BID, added:

“This event is a first for Winchester City and we are delighted that so many local businesses have chosen to be involved in the Winchester Bunny Hop event. Over the past two years Winchester’s retail offering has become ever increasingly child and family friendly. We have arranged this event to support this move and for children to enjoy their time visiting the City over the Easter period”.

Kristian Price of The Sweet Treat Company is delighted to be supporting the Winchester Bunny Hop. He said: "This Easter promises to be a fun filled time for families in Winchester. We are looking forward to seeing happy people enjoying their Sweet Treat Easter Eggs, and welcoming 'Bunny Hoppers' into the store for lots of Easter fun”

The Winchester Bunny Hop will run from Monday 29 March to Sunday 18 April 2010. You can pick up your free quiz sheet, which includes an easy-to-use map, from Winchester Tourist Information Centre, the City Museum, or from www.visitwinchester.co.uk

‘Egg hunters’ in need of some food during their search can take their quiz sheets along to the Bridge Patisserie on Bridge Street to enjoy some exclusive Easter offers.
