Big Green Summer Picnic - 25th July

Why not celebrate the countdown to the London 2012 Olympic Games by enjoying the Big Green Summer Picnic in Winchester on Sunday 25th July.

The London 2012 Open Weekend event will see a number of activities being held at North Walls Recreation Ground where live music, inflatable fun, walking, jogging, orienteering and cycling trails are all on offer to local residents.

Winchester City Council is asking families to bring along a picnic and their bikes and challenge themselves to take part in 20 minutes of light activity at 12 minutes past each hour whilst enjoying a fun family day out! What’s more, all the activities on offer are completely FREE.

The Big Green Summer Picnic will take place on Sunday the 25th July at North Walls Recreation Ground. The event will run from 12 noon to 5pm. This event is part of the Big Green Summer series of events as it will show residents how they can take part in more sustainable forms of activity that are easy to do at any time.

Cllr Lucille Thompson, Portfolio Holder for Active Communities said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people to come together as a community, celebrate the countdown to the Olympics, and take part in these free activities. It should be a great day out for all the family!”
