Have you registered to vote? Don’t leave it too late

With the Local Elections coming up on 6 May and a Parliamentary Election due to be called before 3 June this year, the City Council is reminding people to register to vote in time.

To vote, you will need to be on the Register of Electors for your address by 20 April 2010.  Most people will already be registered, because they completed a form last autumn.  Residents who have moved to the District more recently and cannot recall completing a form, should contact the Electoral Services Unit on 01962 848 125 or ereg@winchester.gov.uk

The latest date for registering to vote in time for elections held in May is Tuesday 20 April 2010.

If you want to apply for a postal vote or change your postal vote details, you should do so before Tuesday 20 April 2010.  Remember, if you have a postal vote, you will not be allowed to vote at the polling station.

To register, or to apply for a postal vote, simply complete and return a Voter Registration Form or postal vote application form which is available to print-off on the City Council’s website: http://www.winchester.gov.uk/CouncilAndDemocracy/DemocracyAndElections/ElectoralRegister/
