A new market for Winchester

A new weekly market will start on Wednesday 17 February in Middle Brook Street, providing a fantastic choice of foods, produce and plants from across the south of England.

Some of the delights on offer include handmade breads, delicious cakes and pastries; Mediterranean olives; locally caught fish; mouth watering fruit and vegetables; flowers and plants; local meats and dairy produce; and home-made jams and chutneys.

The new market will focus on locally produced food from across the south.

Cllr George Beckett, Leader of Winchester City Council, said: “The new Wednesday market is an exciting opportunity for Winchester. It will have a brand new look, with gazebos and changes to the stall layout, making it much easier for customers to walk around and browse what’s on offer. We are keen for the market to develop and grow and, if there is demand for certain products and traders, we can work to bring them to the market.”

On Wednesday 24 February there we will be FREE soup on offer at the market; made to a traditional Old English Recipe, and typical of the delicious food and produce on offer every Wednesday at Winchester’s new market.
