History comes alive at the Westgate
Be transported back in history and join Civil War soldiers as they lay siege to the Westgate, one of Winchester’s ancient gateways.
On Sunday 15 February, from 11am to 4pm, a re-enactment of the siege of the Westgate by the Sealed Knot will bring pikemen, musketeers, artillery and camp followers in
Come and try out the soldiers’ weapons, learn to drill and find out more about life as a soldier during the English Civil War. There will also be cannon to support the garrison and the gun captain and crew will demonstrate the loading and firing of this awesome piece of artillery.
