Children's Christmas quizzes at the City Museum

Press Release: 11/12/2009

Children's Christmas quizzes at the City Museum

Winchester City Council’s museums service is inviting families to come along to the City Museum in the Square, to take part in festive fun quizzes for children.

Children can join in the hunt for festive objects hidden around the museum. Will they be able to find a medieval angel, a Roman star, a Georgian cherub, or even Father Christmas, hiding in one of the old reconstructed shops or amongst the local historic artefacts?

Younger children can have fun tracking down the robin red-breasts perched high and low around the museum’s three floors. There are twelve of these elusive little birds to find.

Successful object hunters and robin spotters will be rewarded with a small but tasty prize.

Robin Iles, Education Officer for Winchester Museums, commented: “With two new quizzes to try out, why not escape the cold and rain, and the crowds of last-minute shoppers, for a warm welcome and a spot of free fun for all the family at the City Museum this Christmas.”

You can have a go at the quizzes from Saturday 12th December 2009 to Sunday 3rd January 2010. Admission is free.

The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 4pm and Sunday from 12noon – 4pm. The museum will be closed from on Christmas Eve, and all day on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
