A long-term refurbishment project in Denmead has finally been completed.

After a long period of local consultation and complex negotiations with the landowners involved, Winchester City Council has completed the second phase of its environmental improvement scheme in the centre of the village.

The scheme provides improved access for shoppers and other users of the village centre by helping to keep cars and pedestrians apart.  It also provides a more pleasant shopping experience, enhanced by the planting of trees which further add to the character of the busy village centre.

Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Michael Read, said: “After 26 years of hard work and planning, it’s wonderful to finally see the centre of Denmead looking so good. I watched the project take shape back in 1983 and it’s particularly special to see the project completed during my time as Mayor of Winchester.”
