Older Persons Information Day - 22 October
The Winchester District Older Peoples Partnership will be holding an Older Persons Information Day to let people know what services are available to them. The event will take place on Wednesday 22 October from 11am to 3pm at the Winchester Discovery Centre in Jewry Street.A wide range of information and advice will be on offer covering subjects as varied as Benefits, Pensions, Transport, Healthcare, Active lifestyles, and Further Education.
Winchester City Council, Hampshire County Council and HM Revenues and Customs will all be working in partnership to provide advice and information on the day.
People are invited to come along to the event at their leisure and enjoy a free cup of tea and slice of cake.
Cllr John Cooper, the City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Communities & Safety and Deputy Leader of the council, said:
"I am sure this Information Day will provide our older residents with practical advice on a wide range of subjects from adult education to pensions advice and healthcare.
This kind of event is long overdue and I hope it's going to attract visitors from all across the District. I already know that it has been welcomed by several residents in my southern ward, where the Parish Council is organising transport for them to attend, and I hope others will follow suit".
Gill Sweeney, Chair of the Partnership (and District Service Manager for Winchester Adult Services) added:
"The Over 55’s information day has been developed through close and effective partnership working. Through this process of agencies and older people working together, we have been able identify that increased awareness of services is a top priority. We hope that the information day will enable people to find out more about the services which affect them"
