Hotelier fined for health and safety offences
Brian Lay of Uplands Park Hotel, Droxford was fined £750 at Fareham Magistrates Court on the 28th May 2008 for failing to comply with health and safety legislation.
He pleaded guilty to two offences under the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Electricity at Work Regulations. This was as a result of an accident investigation, carried out by officers of Winchester City Council, into an incident where one of his staff suffered a severe electrical shock which nearly resulted in their death.
Mr Lay is a director of Brymara Properties Ltd who were also fined £1,500 for the same offences, the City Council were awarded £4,500 costs.
