Notice of Poll in the Parish of Boarhunt
Press Release: 16/01/2008
A Parish Poll will be held in Boarhunt on 14 February 2008, to seek a yes/no vote on the following two questions:
“Do you wish to see the new Boarhunt Village Memorial Hall to be built on land at the Recreation Ground Trampers Lane?”
“Do you wish to see the new Boarhunt Village Memorial Hall to be built on land at the existing site in Trampers Lane?”
The decision to hold the Parish Poll was made at a parish meeting on Monday 7 January 2008. Such polls are relatively rare but are seen as a helpful way to gain the views of the community on potentially contentious questions capable of a yes/no answer.
The outcome of a parish poll provides advice to the Parish Council. The council will take the outcome into account in its future decision but is not legally obliged to follow the result.
The Parish Poll will take place at Boarhunt Parish Memorial Hall, Trampers Lane, North Boarhunt, Fareham on 14 February 2007 between the hours of 4pm and 9pm. It will be open to all those who are on the electoral Register of Electors for the Boarhunt polling district.
Those wishing to vote will be required to attend the Polling Station, as legislation does not provide for Poll Cards, Postal or Proxy Voting at a Parish Poll.
