Community Chest Grants – don’t miss out!
Winchester City Council is reminding community groups in the Winchester District that the deadline for Community Chest Grant applications is Wednesday 7th January 2009, with applications welcomed for activities/projects that will take place after 18th February 2009.
For this round, successful applicants will have six months from the date of the award in which to complete their project.
Grants of up to £500 are available for projects/activities that fall within the following schemes:
Biodiversity Projects
For example: a Hedge or tree planting scheme to provide habitat for birds or mammals, or pond restoration works including wild flower planting.
Carbon Reduction Schemes
To promote/support Carbon reduction initiatives - including feasibility studies; promotion of carbon reduction within the community; and installation of renewable energy or energy efficiency measures.
Community Chest Scheme
Supporting projects that promote the Council’s priority work areas.
Community Planning
Organisations/groups must be able to demonstrate that they are seeking the views and wishes of all residents within their area of interest.
