ABC Special Advisory Panel dates announced

Winchester City Council announced last week that following the launch of ABC in the first phase of the district, recycling rates in that area have increased from 18% to 40% which is a fantastic achievement. However the Council recognises that some people do have concerns about the new system.

To address these concerns, Cllr George Beckett Leader of the Council, announced that he was setting up a Special Advisory Panel to provide him, the Cabinet and our residents with the very latest information on the health impacts, recycling rates, and environmental benefits.

The Panel will be chaired by Cllr Richard Worrall with Cllr john Beveridge, Cllr Kate Chapman and experts in Waste management from Southampton University making up the rest of the panel. The meeting dates have been confirmed as:

  • Monday 4 June at 2.30pm (King Charles Suite, Winchester Guildhall)
  • Monday 11 June at 6.30pm (Walton Room, Winchester Guildhall)
  • Monday 18 June at 6.30pm (Walton Room, Winchester Guildhall)
(reserved for public participation and Councillors speaking on behalf of their local residents)
  • Monday 25 June at 6.30pm (Walton Room, Winchester Guildhall)

All meetings of the Panel will be open to the press and public, with the meeting on 18 June reserved for taking public views, including the views of City Councillors speaking on behalf of their residents.

If you would like to have your comments about ABC heard at the panel then e-mail ABCPanel@winchester.gov.uk  or send comments to ABC Special Advisory Panel, WCC, City Offices, Colebrook Street, Winchester, SO23 9LJ,
