Tour of the Universe

Find out all about the sky at night, space mythology and up-to-date space facts inside the Mizar Travelling Planetarium which is visiting Winchester for one day only in half term on Monday 24 October.

Winchester City Council's Museums Service has invited Bob Mizon to present three hour-long shows aimed at a family audience in his giant inflatable planetarium at The Guildhall Gallery, in The Guildhall, Winchester at 10am, 11.30am and 2pm.

The show is suitable for school-aged children and their parents, but places are limited so pre-booking is essential. Tickets cost £2 per person and are available from the Winchester Tourist Information Centre, The Guildhall, Winchester, Tel. 01962 840 500.

Cllr. Therese Evans, the City Council's Portfolio Holder for Culture, Heritage and Sport, said, "We have all at some time stared up into the night sky and wondered what exactly is up there. This is a wonderful opportunity for local families to discover more about Outer Space".

The event forms part of Bright Sparks in Winchester, a year of science and discovery in England's ancient capital, and is being held to accompany a new temporary exhibition at The Guildhall Gallery called Exploring Space, which will run from 21 October until 11 December 2005 and has free admission.
