Museum highly rated in visitor survey
A visitor survey at Winchester's City Museum has shown that all aspects of a visit were highly rated, from helpfulness of the staff to the quality of presentation and content of the museum.In particular the variety of special activities and events throughout the year was highly recommended by residents and visitors alike.
The research was undertaken by Tourism South East and Sher Kent, Visitor Services Manager for Winchester City Council's Museum Service, said that over the past year they had introduced new areas and events into the visitor experience.
"There is new, small, children's furniture, baby changing facilities, an audio guide, large print labels and a monocular for visually impaired visitors, new seasonal quizzes and a whole range of new family fun days to entice the visitor.
"I am absolutely delighted with the results of the survey which show the high standard of service we provide. It is a great tribute to all our hardworking staff," she added.
Admission to the museum in the Square, Winchester, is free and it is open daily Apr-Oct, Mon-Sat 10.00 - 5.00 pm; Sun 12noon - 5.00pm; Nov-Mar, Tue-Sat, 10.00-4.00pm; Sun, 12noon-4.00 pm
