Passport to Leisure at Meadowside

Winchester City Council has introduced its Passport to Leisure scheme to Meadowside Leisure Centre in Whiteley. The scheme, which has been successfully running at River Park Leisure Centre, offers discounted rates on various sports and fitness activities. The discounts are available to the following groups of people:

- Registered students with current NUS card
- Registered unemployed
- Registered disabled
- Lone parents receiving income support
- Persons over 60 years of age

Fitness suite membership, fitness classes, badminton and tennis, have all been discounted by up to 40% during off-peak times and 25% during peak times for these groups.

The Centre Manager, James Wade, said: "I believe that this scheme will be extremely popular. In particular, there are large numbers of students in Whiteley and the surrounding area who can now take advantage of these discounted rates. We already provide cheap gym sessions for younger children and we are delighted to now be able to offer discounts to a wider range of people."

Councillor Patricia Stallard, Portfolio Holder for Heritage, Culture and Sport, said: "The Passport to Leisure scheme has already proved to be a big success at the Riverside Leisure Centre and now people have a great opportunity to take advantage of the excellent sports and fitness facilities at Meadowside."
