First Thursdays Strikes Again!

The programme of First Thursdays street entertainment, arts & crafts, and food continues this Thursday 2nd September, on Winchester High Street. Mark the end of the summer holidays with a lazy evening browsing the market stalls in Winchester city centre.

Resignation of Cllr Barratt from Winchester City Council

Winchester City Council has to announce that Councillor Karen Barratt who represented the St Paul Ward in Winchester resigned with immediate effect on Wednesday, for personal reasons. A by election has now been requisitioned and will be held on Thursday 14 October 2010.

Where's Alfred?

Young visitors to Winchester Tourist Information Centre can take part in a search to find King Alfred. Images of Winchester’s famous monarch will be hidden around the centre and there will be a small prize for any children who can spot them all.

Those who are folllowing the current BBC2 tv series “Victorian Pharmacy”, will be interested to know that Winchester has its very own reconstructed Victorian chemist’s shop in the City Museum in The Square.

Boxing returns to Winchester after 15 year absence

A previously disused facility in the centre of Winchester has been given a new lease of life by the Winchester Boxing Club. Renovations have already begun ahead of the club’s opening on Monday 6th September 2010.
