Sculpture Exhibition: Reflect
Sat 09/06/12
Winchester Cathedral are delighted to host a site-responsive exhibition of contemporary sculpture by a hand-picked group of artists represented by The Garden Gallery Broughton. All the contributors have created new works inspired by their encounter with the Cathedral, drawing on either the function, architecture, or history of the building. The chosen materials include those used in the original construction of the Cathedral - stone, glass and metalwork.
The Garden Gallery in Broughton, near Stockbridge, exhibits sculpture, pots, glass and furniture for gardens by contemporary artists. The Gallery established in 1994 and represents about sixty artists, both well-established and embarking on their careers. Proprietor Rachel Bebb promotes the wealth of living artistic talent, creating sculpture and other works of art for gardens which she believes deserves greater recognition and support. Contemporary sculpture is exhibited in stone, bronze, glass, steel, copper and ceramic. Sculptural ceramics and contemporary garden furniture are also displayed. Commissions have been arranged for those wanting a unique, site-specific contemporary garden sculpture, and many of the Gallery's artists work on a large scale for public places.
The Gallery holds an annual summer exhibition and is otherwise open by arrangement. See www.gardengallery.uk.com
