West Meon Music Festival
Fri 16/09/16 7:30 PM - Sun 18/09/16 3:00 PM
A weekend of chamber music with the Primrose Piano Quartet and guests.
As well as the internationally renowned Primrose Piano Quartet, this year’s West Meon
Music Festival, to be held in the village from the 16th to 18th September, will host
leading clarinettist Michael Collins and two brilliant young “rising stars” – violinist Zhivko
Georgiev and guitarist, Daniel Bovey.
The three-day festival includes seven concerts with events to appeal to all the family:
from the opening candlelit concert of Viennese classics – featuring works by Schubert,
Mahler and Brahms; through an informal children’s concert on Saturday morning,
“rising stars” at nearby Warnford church, and late night folk Hootenanny at The Thomas
Lord Pub; to a special “make a day of it” on Sunday with a coffee concert in the
morning, an early afternoon finale – including Dvorák’s wonderful Piano Quintet
Op.81 – and lunch at one of the local pubs in between.
As always the festival will combine music-making with support for its chosen charity.
This year’s beneficiary is The Rosemary Foundation which provides hospice at home
services in Hampshire.
