T.S Eliot - The Waste Lane

Sat 04/06/16 7:00 pm

This is a rare opportunity to hear one of the 20th century s most famous and controversial poems read aloud for an audience by kind permission of the Eliot Estate and his publishers, Faber and Faber.

Written in 1922, the poem reflects Eliot s experience of a fragmented, urban world in the aftermath of the First World War. Five actors will give voice to the many characters, ideas and sounds of the poem drawing out its themes of life and death; hope and despair; memory and desire. The reading will be followed by an informal discussion.
