'Your Vivacious Voice' by Professor Yvon Bonenfant

Thu 04/02/16 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Inaugural Lecture of Professor Yvon Bonenfant at the University of Winchester

We all know the voice makes sound. We understand it as a vehicle for language, communication, and expression. Most of us talk; some of us sing. But beyond this, how does emitting vocal sound act on and transform the world around us?

In this lecture, Yvon Bonenfant will suggest some answers to these questions. He explores some of the actions our voices take, particularly when we use them in unusual and extraordinary ways. He synthesizes current understandings from a wide range of disciplines, from the hard sciences right through to artistic practice itself. He does this in order to reflect on, and take you right inside, the fascinating territory of your own voice, its vitality, and its ability to reach out and touch the world in unusual, delightful and polticial ways.
