Safer Food Better Business
New food hygiene laws in the UK came into force from 1st January 2006. They affect all food businesses, including caterers, primary producers (such as farmers), manufacturers, distributors and retailers.
How the legislation affects you depends on the size and type of business you are running. There are a number of EC Regulations, which apply directly to food businesses in the UK, and also national legislation in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. This pack has been developed to help small catering businesses such as restaurants, cafés and takeaways put in place food safety management procedures and comply with food hygiene regulations.
