Safer Food Better Business

New food hygiene laws in the UK came into force from 1st January 2006. They affect all food businesses, including caterers, primary producers (such as farmers), manufacturers, distributors and retailers.

How the legislation affects you depends on the size and type of business you are running. There are a number of EC Regulations, which apply directly to food businesses in the UK, and also national legislation in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. You'll find more information about these regulations, and what it means for different food industry sectors by visiting the Food Standards Agency Website. You will also find links to the Safer food better business food safety management pack.
