Jig Buffets

Jig Buffets - good home-cooked food

Name Joanne Gill
Name of Business Jig Buffets
Background I started Jig Buffets 24 years ago, when my husband moved us from Luton to Southampton with his work. I had a one year old baby and so wanted to work from home and be a mother. I started doing buffets, then with 3 children, realised how much kids love cooking and so started children's cookery classes in my kitchen. I then started selling my buffet food at farmer's markets as well.
What inspires you? I believe food should be of good quality, fresh, fairly priced and above all very tasty. I am inspired to give those who love home cooked food, but are unable to cook themselves, the complete food experience that they would want to have created themselves.
Your products I produce sweet and savoury foods:- large and small cakes, apple pies and gingerbread men; also my own selection of quiches, sausage rolls, pizzas and ham/cheese puff pastries. My sausage rolls are my best seller, which are a homemade mix of pork, beef, grated apple, onions, tomatoes, garlic and spices - these are my own unique sausage rolls - popular because of their unique flavour.
Why do you choose to trade at Winchester market? I love trading at Winchester as you are in the heart of the shopping area and being near the Cathedral you encounter many tourists. I do love a good chat with people!
