Winchester District Sports Awards 2016

The winners of the 2016 Winchester District Sports awards were revealed on Thursday 9 February at the Holiday Inn, celebrating the achievements and commitment of local coaches, volunteers, sportsmen and women in 15 categories over the past year.

The Sport and Physical Activity Alliance (SPAA) organised its ninth annual awards ceremony hosted by Kevan James from BCC Radio Solent complemented by an inspiring opening talk from Mandy Hickson, the SPAA ambassador.

An outstanding 97 nominations were made across the categories before the judging panel whittled down the submissions to select the winners. Awards were handed out on the night by Cllr Jane Rutter, the Mayor of Winchester, along with the category sponsors.

The assembled crowd of 250 were also treated to a jaw-dropping dance display by Winchester Wolves from the University of Winchester Dance Squad.
