Flooding

Flooding is a natural occurrence and no drainage systems or flood protection measures can give an absolute protection from all flooding events.

Flooding on the highway and in watercourses adjacent to the highway is dealt with by Hampshire County Council and a link to their site is below.

If flooding from a watercourse occurs then the Environment Agency is responsible for the flow of water through main river and a copy of the main river maps are shown on their website. For all watercourses that are not main river or highway drains then Winchester City Council as Land Drainage Authority will investigate the problem and the Drainage Engineer should be contacted on 01962 848 254.

For general flooding information, use the link to the Environment Agency, where you can search for areas of risk using your post code. All current flood warnings are contained on this site.

Information on flooding and making your home flood resilient can be found on the National Flood Forum site which has a link below.
