Parking permits
If you wish to park your car on-street in a permit holders parking bay within a permit parking zone between 8am and 6pm from Monday to Saturday, then you will have to obtain and display a valid permit. In some streets, the times of operation of the permit parking places are from 8am to 10pm.

Permit zones
The city is divided into inner and outer areas. These areas are split into mini zones, each identified by a letter. Your permit will allow you to park within your mini zone(s) only.

If you live on main road dividing two zones, you may opt for a permit to allow you to park in both zones.

Parking permits give you the opportunity to use any permit holders' bay within your zone. As there may be more cars than places where permit holders' parking bays can be provided, the issue of a permit cannot guarantee you a parking space.

Where to park
Permit parking places are marked out on the streets in white lines in the form of parking bays. The details and times of permit parking restrictions are given on signs. Yellow lines show where you are not allowed to park.

Vehicles must be parked wholly within the marked areas and not overlapping the lines, on the pavement, or blocking access to other people's homes.

Display of permits
Resident and Visitor permits must be displayed on, or adjacent to the near side of the front windscreen of the vehicle so that all the following particulars are visible:

• The registration mark of the vehicle or the address of the permit holder for which the permit has been issued
• The zone or zones in respect of which the permit is valid
• The expiry date of the permit
• The permit hologram

Failure to correctly display any permit may result in the issue of a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).
