Aims
- To raise awareness and understanding of Winchester City Council
- Encourage the community to become involved in the way the Council works
- Ensure that the Council's services, policies and activities are promoted appropriately and accurately.
Main Responsibilities
Media Relations
The officers write and issue hundreds of news releases each year and act as the main point of contact with the media. They respond to media enquiries and set up interviews with council representatives. They monitor both local and national press to ensure that the City Council's services are represented accurately.
Publications
The team produces the residents' magazine 'Perspectives' which is delivered free to every household in the district and keeps residents up-to-date with news and information on the Council's work, services and policies. To read Perspectives click here.
Newsletters
The team produces a monthly e-newsletter for Parish Councils called Parish Connect. To read Parish Connect click here.
Electronic Media
The unit is responsible for managing the content of the City Council's website www.winchester.gov.uk.
Internal Communication
The unit works with Human Resources to implement an internal communications strategy that includes team briefings, a weekly staff newsletter and a staff intranet.
Corporate Identity
The team is directly responsible for managing the City Council's corporate identity - including the use of the logo, crest and name of the Council, ensuring that it is used in an appropriate way.
