8. St Mary and All Saints' Church, Droxford

Droxford, SU 6077 1821
A medieval flint and stone building with strong Norman characteristics, including the chancel arch, and the north and south doorways (now reset).
The earliest surviving features date from the mid 12th century. The north aisle and chancel were built in the 13th century, and the south aisle and chapel are 14th century work. Inside, the large square pillars once formed part of the outside walls of the original church. The tower is of late 16th century date with a curious square stair-turret and later brick battlements.
The church was heavily restored during Victorian times when the entire church was refitted, although the original structure was retained.
