St. Andrew's Church, Meonstoke

A 13th century parish church, built mainly in the Early English style, with a with a striking Welsh-border-like tower.The body of the tower is 15th century, but the uppermost wooden sections were not added until 1900.

Inside, there is a Norman font, a Jacobean pulpit and on the north wall, a 17th century Baroque sculpture of Jacob wrestling an angel. In the 13th century chancel, there are original lancet windows and a medieval painting of a consecration cross.


The Walk

Meonstoke to St Mary and All Saints', Droxford
3.96 miles/6.38 km

Follow the path in front of the church leading to Bucks Head Hill. Turn left and follow the road to the roundabout.

Take the left turn and after a short distance turn right then take the footpath just before Stocksbury Farm, heading in a south-westerly direction.

Join the Meon Valley Trail where it meets the footpath, continuing until you reach the road.

Turn right here onto Mill Lane and after a short distance take the footpath on the left. This path leads south then west, crossing the River Meon and finally passes the church at Droxford.
