Health Walks

Winchester Health Walk

Walking is a great way to keep active and healthy and its now even a social event that can help you to meet new peers and groups of people. The regular Health Walks are a great way to see the beautiful landscapes of Winchester and take in some fresh air at the same time! Explained as 'a purposeful, brisk walk undertaken on a regular basis' these health walks can provide a great starting basis to leading an active and healthy lifestyle in a fun, friendly and relaxed environment!

Aimed at those people who are inactive or do little physical activity there are currently four free Health Walks that take place across the District and are run by our team of Volunteer Walk Leaders. Walks takes place on a weekly basis and last for around 2 to 3 miles (Approx 1 Hour). Details of your nearest Health Walk can be found below:

Nordic Walking

Nordic walking has its roots in Finland and has been likened to cross-country skiing without the skis, and is the chosen off season training method for competitive cross-country skiers. Development of Nordic Walking to its present form as a recreational physical activity for all started back in 1980 in Finland and in 1997 the first official Nordic Walking poles were introduced to the public.

The technique is an enhanced form of natural walking, suitable for all abilities and ages. It's an ideal activity for people who haven't exercised for a while or who dislike traditional sports or gym activities.

Regular walks available at… Farley Mount Country Park, Winchester, Shawford & Fair Oak To book your free taster session or for more details, contact the local Nordic Walking Instructor, Jonathan: 07867926041

Nordic Walking classes are run by Momentum Fitness and are risk assessed. For more information on the classes visit here or see the documents at the bottom of this page.
