An aerobics class

Winchester City Council owns two leisure centres in the district - River Park and Meadowside.

River Park, in Winchester town centre, is operated by DC Leisure and offers a complete range of fitness activities. Meadowside is in Whiteley, next to the shopping village, and also has a range of halls, meeting rooms and fitness activities.

There are a variety of fitness classes including Legs, Bums and Tums, Step Workout, Circuits, Yoga and Pilates.

The MEND Programme

MEND is a community, family-based programme for overweight and obese children aged between 7 - 13 and their families. River Park Leisure Centre has recently been awarded a grant of £47,000 from The Big Lottery Wellbeing Programme to implement the MEND programme over the next 2 years, starting in Autumn 2007.
