Housing Repairs - Rechargeable Repairs

The Housing Landlord Service is responsible for maintaining the City Council's housing stock. We will respond to requests for repairs, as well as modernising and maintaining properties on a pre-determined planned program of works.

Where it is not immediately clear what action is required an appointment will be made for a surveyor to carry out a detailed inspection, and arrange any necessary works.

An repair deemed an emergency is attended to within a maximum of 24 hours. We also operate an out of hours service for attending to emergencies.

The City Council will not however be reponsible for repairs made necessary by a tenants direct action or negligence. Where tenant's or visitors to their property, have caused damage (eg. broken window) or been negligent (eg. locked out of property) the Council will charge for the cost of works to rectify the problem.

Tenants should be advised that a repair is rechargeable when reporting

There are also certain responsibilities the tenant has in helping with the upkeep of the property.
